Intro: #
In this tutorial, we will explain to you how to Upload your footage during the event or after the recording is done. And how to Finish the event after everything is Uploaded.
Uploading Footage #
Let’s look at the function of uploading footage to the iRewind server. You are now starting your event or already finished it.
As seen in our previous tutorial on “Recording”, you see here on the screen the percentage of the uploaded footage for your event. Yes, that’s right! You can already start uploading live, during the event if your smartphone is connected to the internet.
So, you can either upload post-event or upload while recording during the event itself.
Upload needs & indicators #
In both cases, of course, you need to be either connected to a good wifi connection or use a SIM card with a data contract that allows you to upload via Mobile Network.
The recording timeline below shows you the date on which you have the actual footage recorded.
Upload confirmation #
Before your event is done and you can close it in the iRewind ONE App, you need to make sure you’ve uploaded all footage to iRewind servers, with the indicator showing that 100% of the footage is uploaded.
Upload process #
Now let’s see how the footage Upload is working.
Access the Upload details settings. On this screen, you can control the upload status and have more information about your uploaded files.
You can toggle Upload ON or OFF from the top button marked “Segments upload”.
Segments is our term for short video segments which the camera records and transmits to our servers.
Activate upload #
You can activate the upload function before the event starts. Then you will Record AND Upload at the same time. We recommend this if you are connected to a stable wifi, or have a good data plan and network coverage.
However, you can also start the Upload anytime during the event or after the Recording is done, as long as you are connected to the internet.
The speed of the upload will vary, depending on the speed of your connection.
Upload filters #
For more control, at the top right of this Upload Details screen, you’ll find a menu with some filters that will help you manage the upload and files stored in the iRewind ONE APP even better.
The first setting is the “Set time range” function. This allows you to limit the view and the upload of the footage to the time range set there. You always need to upload everything you filmed to the iRewind servers to be able to Finish the event. If you have longer days of recording or bad internet access and need more time to upload, make sure you set the time range accordingly. The standard setting is “last 24h” but you can go up to the “last 30 days”.
Another way to control the uploaded footage is by filtering the segments by ” Recording”, “To upload” , “Error” and so on. This allows you to have a quick view of the different statuses of the recorded footage. each segment to be uploaded, particularly for those missing.
Upload errors #
The most important status to check here is the “Error” one. Because of the internet connection, sometimes some videos will not upload completely and show up as “Errors”. In that case, make sure you’re connected to a stable Internet connection and tap on the Button “Retry Failed Uploads”.
The Upload of all these “error” files will then start again and the correct videos will be properly uploaded.
Upload functionalities #
All throughout uploading, you can always minimize the app or turn off the screen. The upload will continue. And even if your device powers off, no data will be lost. However, we recommend that you connect your device to a charger or a battery pack while uploading.
Device handling while uploading #
Our upload process is designed to optimize the device’s capabilities while also recording, but sometimes, due to external factors, it can put a strain on the smartphone’s processing power or battery life. If you feel that’s the case, you can decide on the go to temporarily turn the upload off:
- to prevent the device from overheating, if the outside temperature is very high
- to make sure you don’t go over your mobile data limit
- or if the device battery level drops too low
Upload troubleshooting #
Now, getting back to that 100% Upload Indicator we were talking about.
If you see that your upload is somehow stuck, please check
- That the internet connection is stable and fast enough
- That the QR Code for your event is still valid and the phone is charged or plugged in
- And also “Retry failed Uploads” as mentioned before
Should that not help, try to restart the App and the smartphone completely.

Finish Event #
Uploading the footage to our servers automatically deletes it from your device, cleaning up your available storage and allowing you to be prepared for your next event.
Once verified your upload and that everything is uploaded you can close the event in the iRewind ONE App by tapping here on “Finish event”.
